BUCKHURST HILL CRICKET CLUB Saturday 1st X1 v Harlow on Sat 26 Apr 2008 at 1.00pm
BUCKHURST HILL CRICKET CLUB Won By 32 Runs
Buckhurst Hill lost the toss and were put into bat by the visitors. After losing early wickets J.Allen (50) & R.Beckett (40) put on a vital partnership as the team looked back on track, just as the partnership began to pick up its pace Russ got out shortly followed by Jamie. This brought a collapse of wickets eventually ending with a total of 165 on what seemed to be a sticky Roding Lane track. After a tea fit for kings the boys entered the field ready to destroy the Harlow batting attack. Opening the bowling was A.Baig & R.Beckett which began brightly not conceding many runs, Russ then took apart the top order eventually taking 4 wickets. The end of the spells brought J.Slisz & L.Richards two bowlers who bowled with tremendous control and in his debut for the 1st XI Leslie ended up grabbing a wicket and settled into the team quickly. Not to forget that Joe picked up a couple of crucial wickets at important times in the Harlow innings. To follow were the spin twins D.Platt & R.Bhome both picking up wickets and drying up the runs. All in all the guys did the club proud not only beating a team which is in the division above but also bringing a new exciting look to the field and signs of a bright future ahead.
